Bon Appetit!!

Joseph and I watched "Julia and Julia" tonight... it's was a wonderfully delicious movie. Joseph and I were laughing the whole way through... I'm always amazed at how talented Meryl Streep is. But what I loved most was the relationship between Julia and her husband, Paul. "You are the butter to my bread, you are the breath to my life"... to which Joseph said as he turned to me, "You are the mayonnaise to my broccoli." Yes, he puts mayo on his broccoli. He loves it, therefore, he loves me, and that's all I need to know.

Julia and Paul were so utterly in love. Whenever he wrote to friends, he wrote about her... he was proud of her, even in the midst of small failures. He believed in her talent, and was her strong support. What a lucky woman she was. To be surrounded by love, friends, wine... and butter!!! What it must have felt like to be engrossed in what you loved, and to not apologize for it. She was fearless, and we could all use a little of that in our lives. So, Bon Appetit!!!

I LOVE that movie! Such a feel good movie. Inspiration everywhere: Julia's love story, her passion for food and the journey it took her on, Julie's blog and finding happiness doing something she loved everyday, etc..

Glad to hear you've found the butter to your bread or the mayo to your broccoli (hmm?). It's wonderful to have that kind of love supporting you along the way as you journey through life.

Yes, I'm incredibly lucky to have found "the one." He even got mad at the part of the movie when the husband walked out on Julia. He said, "Why isn't he supporting her." I'm so very lucky.

I love that she and her husband sent out Valentine's Cards instead of Christmas cards. And that one was rather risque for that decade. You should read her book, My Live in France, and you'll hear all the things and more that they put in the movie for the Julia side of the story. And the P.S. to the Julie side: she totally cheated on her husband and wrote a second book bragging about it -- and he stuck with her. Not the same morals as our dear Julia Child.
